Explanations / Notes:

You may notice some consoles that appear to have shipments ending in odd values. Maybe a 001 or a 998 rather than an even number as you'd expect. I started doing this to differentiate between how a number was given. If it was announced that the new total was 31.4 million, then 31.4 million was put into the system. If the next quarter, however, all we heard was that an additional 1.4 million were shipped, then we didn't quite get a new total. Thanks to the individual rounding behind the earlier two numbers, maybe 32.8 million is the total, or maybe it would've been 32.7 or 32.9 if they'd announced a true total. Anyway, in such situations I just made it a habit to set these apart by adding or subtracting an additional inconsequential value of 1. 31.4 million + 1.4 million + 1 = a value of 32,800,001 into the database. Back when everything on the site was images, this was completely invisible to the end user, but now it can be noticed.
